No more pigeons in our warehouse August 25, 2007 Kelvin K. Chin (Los Angeles, CA) 36 out of 37 found this review helpful
My company had a huge problem with pigeons roosting in our warehouse. We decided to buy a different owl at first, a statue that didn't move. But after 3 days, the pigeons had figured out it wasn't real.
This electronic owl's movement and hooting really did the trick. I would say it is quite loud if you wanted to use it at a house or apartments. Also, the sensors are really too sensitive. We eventually turned off the hooting because it was too annoying, and it didn't seem to make a difference to the pigeons--they still stayed out.
Electronic Owl Defense June 4, 2008 John S. Laughlin 17 out of 17 found this review helpful
We bought this as a gift for a friend. She was having problems with a nasty little bird messing up her newly redone porch furniture. She was almost to the point of automatic weapon fire to rid herself of the bird.
She had tried numerous other options and nothing worked. Since the owl has been on the job there has been no sign of the bird.
She can't say enough about how she loves her owl.
Works as expected...pretty cool June 29, 2007 John V (New Rochelle, NY) 10 out of 10 found this review helpful
Owl works as expected and described. Hooting sounds real. Sometimes it hoots when nothing is near, but that's usually because the sensor is dirty or it's sitting too close to something like a rock or a tree and it thinks that it "sees" an animal. Just move it or clean it.
You should move it around your yard every so often so birds don't get used to it, and it's best to put it out before the birds make your yard a regular eating spot. I think it kept most birds from eating my grass seed, but it could have been a coincidence. I'm not sure if it will keep rodents away since that wasn't what I was looking for, but birds are pretty easily freaked out by it.
It's an interesting lawn ornament, too. It would hoot at people walking by in the street, which usually got a positive response. I guess if you don't expect the world from it, and you use it along with other methods, it's worth a try. I like it.
Great for getting rid of birds July 23, 2008 Travis Moore (Phoenix, AZ) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I used to have 30-40 birds hanging out and pooping on my front porch, then I bought this owl. It hoots loud, but is on a sensor, so I does stop. I must say we have maybe 1-2 birds there a day now. Works maybe a little too good, we find 3-4 dead birds a week around it, I think they died of a heart attack. You do need to move the owl around to make it more realistic.
